About the Programme
With the view to enhance and promote the developing countries human resource capabilities and international exchange of ideas, technologies and research, UNESCO the Government of the People’s Republic of China will co-sponsor total number of seventy-five (75) fellowships for Master’s and PHD students in 2026-2027.
Among these fellowships, twenty seven (27) vacancies will be open for new recruitments from 135 developing Member States in Africa, Asia pacific, Latin America, Europe and Arab Region. A candidate can apply for one year Visiting Scholar Programme or Master’s or doctoral Degree programme with the duration of Study ranging from two to five years.

Eligibility Requirement
Candidate must be national of Member State and fulfill the following Requirements:
One-year Visiting Scholarship Programme
Candidate applying for General Scholar Programmes must hold high school diploma and age must be less than forty-five (45). Candidate those are applying for Senior Scholar Programmes must hold a Master’s degree or an associate professor position and should not be older than the age of fifty (50).
English language proficiency is required. For a candidate applying for Chinses-taught program must prove Chinese proficiency HSK level 3.
Degree Candidate
Candidates applying for Master’s Degree must hold bachelor’s degree and those applying for PHD must hold master’s degree. Age limit to apply for Master’s is thirty-five (35), whereas for PHD is forty (40).
English language proficiency is required. For a candidate applying for Chinses-taught program must prove Chinese proficiency HSK level 4.
Candidate must meet the admission requirements of applied university for example academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criteria.
Candidate must be physically and mentally fit.
How to Apply?
Step1:
Carefully read the Application Guidelines for UNESCO/China co-sponsor Fellowship programme 2026-2027 for eligibility and procedure to submit application.
Step 2:
Contact the National commission for UNESCO at your home country to enquire about the procedures and deadline for applications at national level.
Step 3:
Submit your online application with required documents in Chinese Government Scholarship Information System https://campuschina.org as mention in application guidelines.
Step 4:
Submit your online application with all supporting documents in your home country’s National Commission for UNESCO by Friday, 23 January 2026.
Step 5:
When you are nominated by your home country contact as soon as possible at thegreatwall@unesco.org and send online application form and supporting documents.
Step 6:
Letters of nomination, along with all documents should be submitted to UNESCO by the National commission by Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
Selection
After nomination and submission of all documents concerned Chinese universities approved by Chinese authorities will made final decision by taking into consideration gender equality and diversity.
